  • Mute all and Tab to talk: This feature defaults to mute everyone's microphones to avoid background noise. In this mode, each user can press and hold the TAB key to talk. Releasing the tab key mutes the users mic. A chat symbol is shown on the video chat bubble so users see who's talking. Video chat bubbles now show mute-symbol when your mic is off.
     

  • Security: optional two-factor authentication using text messaging.
     

  • Enterprise security: Rooms can be setup as high-security, which requires users to use two-factor and PIN verification each and every time they enter the screening room. Contact us to enable this feature for your rooms.

  • New invitation system: each screening room has ONE URL that can be shared. Moderator screens and lets people into session via a lobby screen. This helps get people into a session if they have accounts or not. Everyone gets the same URL: you can put the URL in slack, a text or in a Google calendar invite etc.
     

  • Users invited for a session now become full Spotterfish users, with their own dashboard etc.

This update focuses on improving the user experience in large screening rooms.

New Features

​

  • Light switch: focus on watching the movie together or focus on talking. The new light switch lets you flip between two modes. Don't worry, you can still talk while watching the movie.

  • Help people with slower internet connections join. Spotterfish uses much less bandwidth for sessions with many people and gently downgrades video chat quality if needed.

  • Snappier and more satisfying user experience. Browser code has been optimized to use significantly less CPU and GPU.
     

  • Easier to understand what's going on when movie playback is buffering. Better messages on buffering and when skipping to another position in the movie.
